The King, in Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland said, “Begin in the beginning…” and so I will:

I was born in Glendale, CA at the beginning of the 1970s. My father was a first-generation college student who was called to the ministry, and my mother was a Missionary Kid who grew up in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe). In the mid 1970s we moved to the Republic of South Africa where I did almost all of my primary and secondary education. We spent two furloughs in Downey, California.

After graduating from Witbank High School with Honors in December 1988 we moved to Greenville, IL, where I started college at Greenville University. I majored in Management Information Science and Accounting and graduated Summa Cum Laude and received the President’s Citation. While in college I participated in Cross Country, Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field, and for many years held the 400 M record. As a student worker I completed the entire college Y2K programming (1990-1991), as well as building a computerized account collection system.

I had opportunity to work at my Alma Mater after college in the Student Accounts, Financial Aid, and Student Development Departments. My love for Student Development came from serving 7 years as Resident Director of Joy Hall. During this time I finished a Masters in Education in College Student Affairs and all of the course work for a Doctorate of Higher Education Administration.

I next moved to San Diego, CA, where I worked as the Director of Community Life and Dean of Students at Point Loma Nazarene University. During the time in San Diego, I adopted my son Levi, and we started a life of adventures together.

Due to the expense of living in San Diego we moved to Marion, IN, so that we could have a yard and some pets, and we could be closer to family. I started working at Indiana Wesleyan University as the AVP for Residence Life, eventually becoming the Chief Student Development Officer. After 12 years of service to the students at Indiana Wesleyan University, I moved to Ada, OK to begin service as the Vice President for Student Development at East Central University. I am currently serving as Dean of Students at McLennan Community College in Waco, TX.

During my Master’s program I had the privilege of learning under Dr Edward “Chip” Anderson who introduced me to the StrengthsFinder Instrument. Later Gallop selected me to be one of 15 StrengthsQuest Educator Trainers, and since that I time I have led many StrengthsQuest Educator trainings, workshops, and consultations – with higher education institutions, churches, and civic organizations.

I enjoy travelling and exploring new places, trying new restaurants and foods, and landscaping.

MASCrapping.com: Welcome to my scrapbooking blog, where I share over 1,000 spreads I’ve created to capture precious memories with my son. When I adopted him at age 9, he had fewer than 20 photos from his life up to that point. I wanted to ensure we documented every special moment together. As a single father, I embraced the responsibility of preserving our memories through this meaningful craft.

Scrapbooking has historically been a tradition that dates back to men in the Victorian Era, yet today, few men participate in it. Through this blog, I aim to showcase a MASCuline Scrapbooking approach, sharing my creations with family, friends, and anyone who might find inspiration in crafting memories with heart and purpose.
